The Stevie® Awards has announced Amazon, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Owkin (Paris, France) as the Grand (“best of show”) winners in the inaugural Stevie Awards for Technology Excellence, often referred to as “the Olympics for technology.” These prestigious awards celebrate outstanding achievements in technology across all industry sectors globally.
The Stevie Awards for Technology Excellence is an international competition open to all organizations worldwide. It honors the remarkable accomplishments of individuals, teams, and organizations shaping technology’s future. Last week, Gold, Silver, and Bronze Stevie winners were announced across various categories, with the full list of winners available at www.StevieAwards.com/Tech.
Amazon/Amazon Web Services has been awarded the Grand Stevie trophy as the most honored organization in the 2024 competition. With an impressive total of 21.5 award points, Amazon/AWS earned this distinction through five Gold, one Silver, and three Bronze Stevie Award wins. The Organization of the Year Grand winner is determined by a points system where each Gold Stevie win counts for three points, each Silver for two points, and each Bronze for one-and-a-half points.
The Grand Stevie Award for the Highest-Rated Nomination of the Year was awarded to Owkin, an AI biotech firm headquartered in Paris, France. Owkin’s winning entry, “Bringing AI Cancer Testing to Patients with MSIntuit CRC,” earned the Gold Stevie Award for Technology Breakthrough of the Year in Healthcare, receiving an outstanding average score of 9.5 out of 10 from the judges. Owkin is recognized for its pioneering work in using artificial intelligence to unlock complex biology and personalize treatment for cancer patients.
Winners will be celebrated and presented with their Stevie Awards during a joint awards ceremony with the ninth annual Stevie Awards for Great Employers, to be held at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City on September 16, 2024. Tickets for the event are now on sale, and the presentations will be broadcast live.
This year’s competition saw more than 600 nominations from organizations across 21 nations and territories, with winners determined by the average scores of over 100 professionals worldwide who served as judges. Notable organizations recognized with winning nominations include Adobe, Africa Fintech Network, Google, IBM, Lenovo, Meta, Octopus Energy, Samsung, TELUS, and Tesla, among others.
The Stevie Awards for Technology Excellence honor achievements across a wide range of technology sectors, with categories grouped into 20 sections, including:
