Edelman has announced the appointment of Rakesh Thukral, the current APAC Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director of India, as CEO of the firm’s Asia Pacific operations, effective immediately. In this new role, Thukral will report directly to Ed Williams, President of Edelman International.

Thukral assumes leadership from Warren Fernandez, who will be stepping down to pursue a new opportunity but will remain with Edelman until the end of 2024. Fernandez’s tenure at Edelman marked significant contributions to the APAC region, where he strengthened the firm’s capabilities and leveraged his extensive experience in the news and media sector to support clients’ strategic needs.

Edelman’s Asia Pacific operations continue to be a priority as the region presents numerous growth opportunities for the firm and its clients. Thukral’s extensive background in guiding global companies entering the Indian market, along with his expertise in helping Indian businesses expand internationally, makes him well-suited to lead Edelman’s efforts across the diverse APAC landscape. With a deep understanding of the region’s business, political, and societal dynamics, Thukral’s leadership is anticipated to bring valuable insights and strengthen client relations.
