DARKHORSE, the PR and social agency, has announced a significant leadership transition as part of its continued expansion across the Asia-Pacific region. Co-Founder Mike Hewitt has been appointed as the new CEO, transitioning from Auckland to Sydney. This move is part of the agency’s strategic growth following notable successes in its Auckland, Sydney, and Singapore offices.

In addition to Hewitt’s appointment, Francesca Kelly, previously a business partner, will step into the role of Managing Director NZ, filling the position vacated by Hewitt. Co-Founder and Executive Creative Director Liam Taylor will continue to support the agency’s executive management and global expansion efforts.

“This move to beautiful Sydney is an exciting new chapter for our agency. I’m thrilled about our ambitious plan to take DARKHORSE’s unique approach and export it globally,” said Mike Hewitt.

He further noted, “Since Project Worldwide’s acquisition of DARKHORSE in 2018, we’ve been focused on becoming a truly global agency. Backed by Project’s network of 15 agencies, 42 markets, and over 2,000 teammates, we have exciting plans for growth and enhancing our client services.”

The announcement follows recent successes, including securing high-profile accounts such as Sephora and extending collaborations with established clients like Jaguar Land Rover and Pernod Ricard.

Francesca Kelly remarked, “These leadership changes mark a pivotal moment for our agency, strengthening our ability to serve clients like BP, Pernod Ricard, and L’Oréal. Our expanded footprint across Australia and New Zealand offers exciting new opportunities for our team and further solidifies our position in the market.”

Liam Taylor added, “I’m looking forward to collaborating with Mike in this new phase and excited that Francesca’s promotion will ensure strong continuity in New Zealand while driving our future direction.”
