Communications Alliance Ltd, Australia’s leading industry association for the telecommunications sector, is pleased to announce the appointment of Luke Coleman as Chief Executive Officer, effective 16 September 2024.

With a distinguished career spanning over eighteen years across journalism, government, and the communications industry, Coleman brings a wealth of experience and strategic vision to this pivotal role.

Prior to joining Communications Alliance, Coleman was the Head of Government and Corporate Affairs for specialist fibre and network solutions provider Vocus.

Coleman’s significant political experience includes having served as an adviser to then-Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Communications, the Hon. Paul Fletcher MP, and as an adviser and later Chief of Staff to the former Minister for Communications, Senator the Hon. Mitch Fifield.

Michael Lee, Chairman of the Communications Alliance Board, said, “We are thrilled to welcome Luke as our new CEO. His extensive experience and track record of fostering collaboration between government and corporate Australia will be invaluable as we continue to advocate for the communications industry.

“Luke’s leadership will be pivotal in driving regulatory reform, enhancing our public profile, and strengthening our influence with stakeholders in an increasingly challenging coregulatory environment.”

Luke Coleman said, “Having spent my entire professional career in telecommunications, I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the industry I love so much as CEO. The telecoms sector is experiencing a period of great disruption, and the role played by Communications Alliance as the voice of the industry has never been more important. I firmly believe that digital connectivity is the foundation of the modern economy, and I look forward to working with the Board, members, and stakeholders to ensure our industry is able to deliver to its full potential.”
