Affinity Appoints Emma Shepherd As Communications Director To Elevate Brand Presence

Affinity, a full service marketing agency, announced the appointment of Emma Shepherd as Communications Director. Shepherd joins Affinity after a successful tenure at The Trade Desk, where she served as Editorial Content Manager for the APAC region.

In her new role, Shepherd will manage Affinity’s external reputation, spearhead thought leadership initiatives, write content for the company’s website and oversee the production of the OutThink newsletter. Additionally, she will drive outreach programs to amplify Affinity’s brand presence, including all PR and social media engagement on platforms like LinkedIn, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter).

“We kept hearing we were flying too far below the radar, so we decided to take a dose of our own medicine and invest in raising our profile by hiring one of the best. Emma has already made an important impact on how we present ourselves to the world,” said Angela Smith, Chief Brand Officer at AFFINITY.

Smith highlighted the agency’s numerous achievements, including over 70 effectiveness awards in the past six years and the anticipated arrival of another IPA Effie award in October. “We owe it to our amazing team and clients to ensure their hard work is consistently out there on a bigger stage,” Smith noted.

Emma Shepherd brings a wealth of experience in media trade reporting and content strategy to Affinity. Before her role at The Trade Desk, she served as Deputy Editor at Mumbrella, where she honed her skills in content creation and industry analysis.

“I am thrilled to join AFFINITY and contribute to its mission of accelerating growth for ambitious brands. I look forward to leveraging my experience in editorial content and communications to elevate AFFINITY’s profile, drive thought leadership, and build meaningful connections within the industry,” said Shepherd.

Smith also mentioned the recent additions to Affinity’s team, including Vaughan Townsend, ECD, and Gavin Sommer, emphasizing that having talent like Shepherd “is the icing on the cake to get the good news out there.”
